From the photographers perspective, at first glance, beautiful Vancouver Island sunset photographs are not a difficult subject. A splash of colour, mountains and clouds for texture, depth and perspective – it’s pretty much a point-and-shoot mission. But… and this is a big But, when you really stop and think about it, vantage point and location are everything.
The consciousness that infuses these animals is not unlike that which we humans possess, albeit on a sliding scale of some kind, or so it seems. The basic architecture of mind and ability to communicate complex ideas, and even emotions, seems apparent in the way many animals, insects and birds relate to one another.
The art of mindful photography is a meditative act. Learning to use the camera in a functional way that produces results is often only one side of the equation.
